MURANO PALACE

Murano may not be the most obvious choice when travelling to Venice, which is exactly why we loved it. Located several kilometres away from central Venice, staying on this island gives you the perfect excuse to travel by water taxi, a scenic and child-like treat in itself. There are two Vaporetto (waterbus) locations on the island, both within 5 minutes of the Murano Palace and that made visiting Burano, Torcello and Venice convenient for us. Murano itself is a lovely little spot for a casual stroll and enjoying a coffee or wine canal-side.

If like us you like the traditional, you will marvel at the history behind this gem of a bed and breakfast. Cesare Giordani, the owner, is the son of a master glassmaker on Murano island. His father even demonstrated the tradition of producing Venetian glass to Queen Elizabeth II in 1961. Continuing his family’s lineage as Venetian merchants, he has a few businesses on Murano, the hotel is the main one, in addition to a couple of shops selling glass. His son runs the B restaurant, a great addition to the island.

OUR STORY

Impeccable service and decadent rooms in a small yet modest boutique hotel. There is a breakfast room for you to make small talk with fellow guests and a nice selection of tea, coffee, cold meats, cheeses and pastries. If you are lucky enough to book a room with a view, this includes a balcony with a scenic view of the bridge and canal.  Each room has it's own very traditional Venetian style, with gold trimmings, matching bed sheets, classic furniture and opulent headrests. Then there is the room which is rather minimal, with a balcony but the view is of neighbouring balconies. This small room has a lush quilted headrest and textured wallpaper from England, yet it all fuses to encompass that elaborate Italian vibe.
